Protection of the city of Casablanca from the floods of Oued Bouskoura

Protection of the city of Casablanca from the floods of Oued Bouskoura

The project aims to equip the city of Casablanca with an underwater structure to canalize floodwater of Oued Bouskoura and to discharge it directly into the ocean.

The project is composed of two distinct sections:

  • At the top of the road to El Jadida a stretch of road as an open channel totaling 3 km, with variable slopes and sections to best adapt to the natural morphology of the oued ;

  • From the road to El Jadida to its end at the ocean, a gallery as an underground tunnel and a backfilled tunnel of approximately 6.9 km and 5.5 m in diameter with a 140 m3/s flow.

The tunnel's excavation is realized by the Tunnel Boring Machine method (TBM ) with a coating made of concrete rings.
